Randomness : Lenka - The Show


Hi loveliesss,

Do you guys have any song that could bring all those memories back like it was yesterday? I totally have so many songs that could make me remember all those fun, happy or even sad memories back from those days...

I want to share one of my all time favourite song from Lenka. I discovered this song in 2009, where i just barely trying to survive in this crazy little world.  This song means a lot to me as its basically describe and sumarize my life at that particular moment.

I was doing my internship at Zurich, Switzerland. I was all alone by myself and im so scared even to think back at it again. At first, i am so lost and being the only hijabi there makes it even harder. I dont have friend and i was always the weird one :(  i keep regretting my decision to do my internship there. But i tried to keep my brave face all the time to make me feel stronger eventhough my heart felt like its going to pop anytime.

This song was my ringtone for the whole time i was there. I am so glad everytime i heard this song because i know there is someone on the other end for me to talk to. How sad is that, right? But as time goes on, i made my decision to just enjoy my time there. I made myself an entry card for public swimming pool, i joined the intern's activities every weekend and i tried to have fun with all new people surround me, without judging myself! I could not thank my "Hausmeister" , Marianne and Alice Bechtiger enough for their great hospitality!! I gained a lot from you guys!! Without them (the locals), i dont know how i could survived my life there...dramatic much? hahah...

And its so weird that i even remember that my friend Ayu came to visit me in Zurich and guess what? She was also using this song as her ringtone as well!! i guess she was the one who introduced to me to this song :))  And now, this song makes me remember you, Ayu! hahah :)

Recipe: Healthy 1-Minute Banana Mug Cake

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day...at least it is for me.. I can't function properly if i didn't get my oatmeal or even a slice of peanut butter sandwich for breakfast.. 

But today i thought i want to experiment a little bit with what i have in my kitchen. Have you ever heard about mug cake? I have heard so much about healthy mug cakes from Susanna Backman or she goes under the name @tastyhealth on Instagram. I've been following her for awhile now but i haven't try any of her recipe yet. Even today recipe is not hers, but she inspired me to create this recipe..haha

Without further ado, i'm gonna start with ingredients.....

Ingredients:

1 ripe banana
2 Tbsp wholewheat flour
1 Tbsp chia seeds
1 Tbsp stevia
1/2 tsp soda bicarbonate
1 egg white
1tsp vanilla essence 1 Tbsp extra virgin coconut oil
2 Tbsp milk/water





 Step by step:

1. Mash ripe banana in a mug.
2. Combine all the other ingredients in the same mug and stir well.
3. Cover the mug with saran/plastic wrap and let it sit for a couple of minutes.
4. Microwave it on high for 1 minute.
5. Let it cool for 1 minute and you can eat it with peanut butter, honey or even ice cream :)








Instead of consuming your empty calories such as nasi lemak or mee goreng in the morning...why don't you try something that is actually good for your body.  I would definitely consider this as my dessert as well :p

Beauty: My Morning Skincare Routine....

Can we actually die from boredom? If we can ..i think i have reach to that level..lols. While i am at it..i might write as many blog post as i can, right? Alhamdulillah my housewife-goyang-kaki-moment will end in less than two weeks time! But i will definitely  miss my bangun lambat-golek2 tgk breaking bad moment, though ;))

Today i am going to discuss about my morning skincare routine. As you will see, it isn't overly complicated, with a mix of high end and low end products. This post is not a review post...so, i will not elaborate too deep/detail about these products but i'll leave links to these products if anybody interested to know more about them.


Anyhoo, I'm not sure for how long i'm gonna stick to my routine.But for the time being, my skin is loving it!

Skin conditions:


  • I have normal skin but occasionally it will get oily on my T-zone area. 
  • When the weather is hot and sweaty,I tend to have red spot on my cheeks due to the broken capillaries (self diagnosed from my internet research). 
  • I do sometimes get acne at that time of the month.Who doesn't? 

So, there you go..my skin condition is out there in public already :p


Step 1 - Cleanse:

  • Upon waking up with my slightly oily skin,the first thing i do is..i wash my face with my Lavera Basis Sensitive 2 in 1 Cleansing Milk(125ml). 
  • 3 to 4 times a week i will pair it with my Clarisonic Mia cleansing tool. I like this combination bcuz Lavera is a mild cleanser plus it is natural organic product and when it combine with Clarisonic Mia, it really helps to deep clean and mildly exfoliate my skin. 
  • Then i use Origins Never A Dull Moment(125ml) facial scrubs (twice a week). It is just an extra step to remove dead skin weekly :p Rinse well.
  • Tips: Pat dry your skin. Be gentle ladies!!



Step 2 - Toner & Serum

  • Next, i like to use Neostrata Oily Skin Solution toner(100ml) - rub it all over my face with a cotton pad. It is the best toner i have yet tried on the market. Hands down! Glycolic acid toner helps to exfoliate your skin and leave you with much smoother and fresh surface :)
  • Sometimes i use Caudalie Beauty Elixir(30 ml) water when i want to feel a little bit more luxurious..lols.. It gives the calming and cooling effect to your skin and of course you will feel fresh to start your day.
  • Then i apply my Claudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum(30ml). A little goes a long way with this but I have nothing to say about this serum. It is ok for me but not to the point where i will be running to get this if the bottle is ever empty. 



Step 3 - Moisturize and Protect

Even if your skin is on the oily side, it is important to protect from UV and moisturize!  


  • After waiting a minute or so to make sure the serum has fully soaked into your skin, i'll put on my sunscreen. As most of you knew already, sunscreen is a must have item on your makeup table if you are in Malaysia or even anywhere in the world... My current sunscreen is Olay White Radiance Brightening UV Protection Treatment SPF 50 PA+++(50ml). It does the job, but i will wait a little longer to write more about it, i suppose.
  • For my eyes, I use Olay Regenerist Eye Lifting Serum(15ml)(no picture) and Garnier Roll-on Anti dark-circle. I didnt see any result from both yet. But i'll stick with them for now...
  • Then i mix (2:1) my BB or CC cream and Nature Republic 92% Aloe Vera Soothing Gel(300ml) and blend it out on my skin. It give out a smooth texture and cover up my imperfection quite well. I have tried multiple BB and CC cream. I tend to switch it up every now and then. Probably i'll write a review post about them later.





There you go! My humble morning skincare routine!! I find that my morning skincare routine might seems simple and quick for someone but overly complicated for others...haha! I didnt say that my way is the right way..obviously! Everybody has their own way to maintain their skin..This is just my routine to maintain my mature and wrinkling face and slow down the aging process..hopefully it works..i wonder *finger cross*

Wedding: How I Met Him



Hello my lovelies,

I cant believe that i am now a married woman.Its been a little over a month already and i am happy as i can be. No...i am over the moon! hahaha... It was a dream come true for me, a dream which i'm living out right up to this day and the day after that....and the day after that...and InsyaAllah till Jannah!

I've known Fadhli (my hubby obviously) since the late of 2004 during our A-Level preparation in INTEC, Shah Alam. We were in a different class, so we didnt have a chance to really talk to each other or anything. I am positive that he didnt even knew im existed. But i do ocassionally joking around (without really meant it ) with my friends saying that i like a quiet/nice guy like him :p  But we ended up not noticing each other up until we were in Germany early 2007. 

We were among 50++ JPA scholars when we first landed in Frankfurt, Germany. We spent our January 2007 in Konstanz learning about German's cultures. I started to notice him a little bit then... and after the cultural course, all of us were seperated into 3 groups for our technical language course. And guess what?? Fadhli and i were in the same group, and our group need to move to Frommern, Germany.

Frommern is a small and remote village. The closest train station is 15 minutes walking from where we stayed. Every morning we have to walk all the way to the train station to get to the university. One fine morning, i dont remember how we ended up walking together. It was such a comfortable conversation without trying to hard :p Without even realising it, we were naturally waiting for each other every morning to get to the train station.. *such a memories..sobs*

In April 2007, more than ten of us were planning to visit Prague together as our first europe trip since we've been in Germany. I was excited to join the trip when i knew Fadhli was also joining the trip as well.* Later, i knew that he joined the trip because i decided to join!! haha..cheesy, much?* I count that as our first of many trips together :)) During our last night in Prague 09.04.2007, he gave me a beautiful black crystal bracelet and asked me to be his girlfriend *Awww moment* how sweet can he be,right? He is such a sweetheart..isn't he?hahah! And the rest is history :)

This coming 09.10.2013 will be our 78th monthsary and i am thrill to bits to continue my life journey with him :) 





1. Our first photo together in Konstanz. It was when we didnt really knew each other yet. As i am being me, I asked him to take a photo with me.*Perempuan xtahu malu* And as he being him, of course he didnt even remember when we took this picture! ciss!!

Review: Nature Republic Aloe Vera 92% Soothing Gel

Hello lovelies,

Its been awhile and now I'm back with a beauty review. Well before i continue writting about this product, i have a confession to make. I am a skincare hoarder and i am proud of it..jk..but seriously!! I tend to buy any latest skincare related products on the market eventhough i dont really need it :(  Thank God i am not a millionare...so i do constrain myself! I am not a compulsive buyer.I will not buy anything without reading their reviews first. I take everything seriously when it comes to my skincare routine!

Back to the main topic. I bought this Nature Republic Aloe Vera 92% Soothing Gel about one week ago and ive been using it ever since! We all know the benefits of aloe vera for our skin...i dont need to elaborate more on this matter. I think Nature Republic really step up their game this time around.The soothing gel is not only a moisturizer, but it can also be use as anything you can ever imagine. *exagerate much?* That is why i thought this extremely versatile product deserve a blog post :)

It came in a 300 ml huge green tube with plastic cover on the inside to avoid messiness (great idea!). 

The consinstency of the product itself is gel like but more on a watery side. It is easily absorb  in your skin and it doesnt leave any sticky feeling like your usual moisturizer does.  Price : RM 32.90






I stumbled upon this product a few years ago but it didnt stand out to me as much. But last week, after more than one hour googling about this product,  i decided to purchase this gel for my puffy eyes. And WOW! After only a few nights i can already saw the result..the puffiness under my eyes are reduce to a certain extend. All i did was dip the surface of your cotton pad in the gel tub and put in on your eyes overnight. I really am happy with the result :))

But wait..that's not all...as i said ealier, this product is a versatile product... picture below tell us how to use this ah-mah-zing product 





The only thing i dont like about this product is the unhygenic tub. I wish they reproduce this product in a tube so that i will not have to dip my finger in that tub again! yucks..

But hey, I would rate this product 4.5/5
Would i purchase it again? Hell ya!!! :)

Randomness: Salam Ramadan!!!

Assalammualaikum and Salam Ramadan, lovelies!

The first week of Ramadan already passed and we only have three more weeks to feel the blessing of Ramadan.Ramadan is an amazing month. There is a flow of blessings and rewards from Allah to those who truly want to reap the full benefits from these thirty days. Probably the best thing about Ramadan is the fact that each and every action is done truly for Allah and each serves to strengthen our faith in Him. I pray that Allah may not make us one of those who do not get anything from their fasts except for hunger and thirst.

It will be less than a month left before i enter a whole new life. I know that it will not going to be easy and I hope that Allah swt will give me strength, courage and a whole lot of happiness for me to explore my long awaited fairy tale life... This Ramadan will be the last Ramadan i celebrate as a single lady , InsyaAllah! Do pray for us, ok!

Recipe: Healthy Fudgy Chocolate Milo Blueberry Cake

Hey lovelies,


whoa...is the name of this cake too much of a mouthful? hahaha..it is, right? But I think this cake deserve to be named as it is because IT IS  a fudgy chocolate Milo  blueberry cake with a healthy twist! 


Fadhli's birthday and my little brother's birthday were last week!!! Happy birthday to both of you, Fadhli and Ayel!!! I bake this cake for you guys...tengok dari jauh je la yer...


cepatnye masa berlaluuu.. Ayel, why do you have to grow up so fast??...and semakin gemok lagi!!  I miss you soo much Ayel!! i hope you grow up to be a great and successful person someday!! Aameen!

So, if you guys interested to bake this super fudgy cake...let me take you through the process.. 

Ingredients:


1/2 cup slightly sweetened apple sauce 

2 Tbsp sunflower oil (optional to get better texture.)
1/4 cup brown sugar ( you might want to add more :9) 
3/4 cup quark (or cream cheese)
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup self rising flour
1 tsp baking powder
2 sachets 3-in-1 Milo (add another 1/4 cup of sugar if you use normal Milo)
2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup frozen blueberries
1/4 cup choc chips (optional)

Preparation:



  • Preheat the oven to 175°
  • Beat apple sauce, oil, brown sugar and quark about 4 minutes.
  • Add egg and vanilla extract to the mixture and mix well.
  • In separate bowl, add flour, baking powder, milo, salt and cocoa powder.
  • Add wet mixture into the flour mixture and mix at low speed until well blended. Dont over mix!
  • Stir in blueberries and choc chips into the batter and pour the batter into greased 18.5cm springform pan and bake for 60 minutes..seriously..not more than 60-65 minutes..you dont want to end up with burning cake!!
  • Let it cool for one hour 
  • Pour the ganache over the cake. Everyone knows how to make chocolate ganache, right? You can check the easy chocolate ganache recipe here. But i skipped the ganache part thou (save those calories, you guys!!) 


Serving size : 1 from 8 slices. 
Calories per serving (without choc chips&choc ganache) : around 180 kcal
Calories per serving (with choc chips&choc ganache) : around 280 kcal

The texture of this cake is  different from a normal cake because i substitute butter/oil with the apple sauce. It is more of gooey and fudgy inside i would say but with a crusty outside..Nevertheless, i love it! 


Eventhough it is a low fat cake, i dont think, i sacrifice the taste of this cake. Try and give it to your friend who does not give a damn about their calorie intake...im sure they will love it too!! ;p whatever it is, nothing can go wrong with MILO, right?







I can not gurantee that you will stop after one serving, thou..hahah......i've ate 1/4 of the whole cake in one sitting..healthy, much?!! super duper dangerous!! =_='

Recipe: Moist Apple Cinnamon Cake

Hello lovelies,

Last 22 February was my birthday...i cant believe how fast time flies.. peaple say another year older and another year wiser.. yeah,right! another year closer to being 30 adelaaa.... oh gosh!!


Anyhoo, since no one is gonna bake me one...i baked myself a super easy, delish and not-so pretty cinnamon apple cake! Since it was quite a depressing day, I'm not gonna let my birthday without any cake to indulge...hahahah!!


So, i'm gonna take you through the process...


Ingredients for 18.5 cm springform pan:


1/2 cup brown sugar + 2 Tbsp brown sugar

1/2 cup sunflower oil (or 1/4 cup apple sauce + 1/4 cup oil)
1 tsp vanilla extract
3/4 cup quark - secret ingredient! hahaha!
1 large egg
1 1/2 cup self raising flour (or white flour + 1 1/2 tsp baking powder)
1/4 tsp salt
2 tsp ground cinnamon
2 large sliced/chopped apples 

Preparation:


  • Preheat the oven to 175°
  • Beat 1/2 cup brown sugar, sunflower oil, quark and vanilla extract for 4 minutes.
  • Add egg to the mixture  until well blended.
  • In separate bowl, mix flour and salt. Pour wet mixture to the flour mixture and mix it at low speed.
  • Combine 2 Tbsp brown sugar and ground cinnamon 
  • Add 1 Tbsp of cinnamon-sugar mixture and 1 Tbsp flour to the apples and mix well.
  • Stir apples mixture into the batter.
  • Pour the batter into greased 18.5.cm springform pan and  sprinkle 1 Tbsp cinammon-sugar mixture on top of the batter.
  • Bake for about 75 minutes or less. 
Easy peasy right?? super moist apple cake ever!! You can top it with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream or even frozen yogurt. i ate the whole cake in 3 days! i didnt even dare to count those evil calories of this beauty!!

Recipe: Quinoa Sushi..this is how i roll!

Hello lovelies,

two post in a day?? i must be really really bored..hahahah!!


did i mentioned before that i love foooood?! Since i started a clean and healthy eating lifestyle, i came across a lot of blogs that mentioned and raved only good stuffs about quinoa..i just cant help myself and research more about quinoa (keen-wah). There are lots of health benefits if we add quinoa in our diet.

  • Quinoa is one of the most protein-rich foods we can eat
  • Quinoa contains almost twice as much fiber as most other grains.
  • Quinoa contains Iron, lysine,magnesium,Riboflavin (B2) and manganese.
  • it’s gluten free
..and lots more...you can read more about quinoa here



Last week i bought myself a packet of 500g Alnatura organic white quinoa. But now here comes the problem..i dont even know how to cook it and dont even want to think how the taste would be like...hahah... 

The first time i cooked it, i chopped up some onion, garlic, bell pepper, zuchinni and sauteed them with shrimp in a pan with crushhed dried chilli and tomato ketchup and mix them with quinoa...Thank God, it was tasty! unlike couscous, quinoa taste a little nutty and it has a sticky texture to it..just like sushi rice....so, as a foodie, i just cant stop thinking how will it taste like if i make a sushi maki using quinoa...and then wallaaa....


i adapted the recipe from here. So, lets get started....

Quinoa sushi recipe:

Ingredients for two serving: 

Quinoa preparation:

1/2 cup quinoa
1 cup water
1 tbsp rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar(ACV)
1/2 tbsp stevia or sugar
salt

Filling preparation:

1/4 medium size sliced carrot 
1/4 medium size sliced avocado 
1/4 medium size sliced zuchinni
sliced smoked salmon
sesame seed
1 sheet of nori (dried seaweed)
soy sauce of course!!
wasabi (optional)

Preparation:

  • Rinse 1/2 cup of quinoa as clean as they can be and add them in 1 cup of water with a pinch of salt. Then bring water to a boil and reduce the heat to low, and simmer (covered) for 12-15 minutes until the water has absorbed.
  • In another bowl, mix 1 tbsp ACV ,a pinch of salt and 1/2 tbsp sugar until dissolve
  • Add ACV mixture into drained quinoa and mix it slowly. We dont want the quinoa to be mushy. Set aside quinoa mixture to cool it down COMPLETELY in the fridge.
  • To assemble the roll, place one nori sheet on a bamboo mat. I dont have bamboo mat and dont even bother to buy one. So i used a soft cardboard and wrapped it with plastic wrap.
  • Spread a rectangle layer of cooked quinoa over nori sheet,shiny side down. Scoop about 1/4 cup of the quinoa onto the nori and with wet hands, spread it out into a thin layer over the nori. Leave about one inch along the edge farthest from you. Wet the one inch band nori with water.
  • Arrange filling ingredients in the middle of the rectangle. Lay smoked salmon first and follow by the other ingredients. Dont put to much. Less is more, ladies...
  • Fold the edge of the nori closest to you with your thumbs and at the same time press gently filling ingredients with your other middle fingers and then roll the mat OVER the filling. 
  • Roll firmly to ensure that the filling is secured inside the nori and continue to roll until you reach the end of the nori. 
  • Important: Cut with a very sharp knife! seriously.. i kid you not!
  • Sprinkle a pinch of sesame seeds on top and serve them with soy sauce!
There you go...quinoa sushi..sorted! hahaha... this protien-rich  recipe is only around 307 kcal! Try it...im sure ull never ever ever regret it ;)

Tag: 25 Random Facts About Me (Part 1)

hello lovelies,

i saw this tag going around recently...so, i decided to jump on the bandwagon and try to come up with 25 most interesting random facts about me..haha.. i just thought it would be fun to spice up my blog a little..not that anybody care, right?  ;p

so...im gonna jump right in..



  1. I'm a second child from six siblings (5 girls & 1 boy)
  2. I was born in KL on 22 February...and i alway thought 22 February is a cool date to be born ")
  3. Most of my family member either call me cha or nisa
  4. When i was five, i begged my parent to sent me to HILTOP Kindergarden, JB (one of the most expensive kindergarden at that time). I dont even remembered how i knew about that specific kindergarden.My parent had to sent my sister, Yana, who is one year apart from me to a different/cheaper kindergarden. kesian yana...lols... I'm sorry and thank you abah for patiently raising such a high maintainence child like me. What was i thinking back then?
  5. I used to hate being tall because i always had to stand at the back of the line every freaking time!! I remembered how bad i want to be a prefect at school just to stand in front of the line...so childish, i know!
  6. But now, i have what they called "Tall syndrome". I feel inferior to any girl/woman i meet who is taller than me. Is that wierd? it is, right? =_='
  7. I won a first place in a speech competion MRSM Se-Malaysia during my high school year!!
  8. I won a third place in a tennis competition and managed to represent Kulim,Kedah in 2001. Unfortunately, kalah teruk gile babas during the first game...hahaha...bertapalah Kulim xde player lain ;)
  9. Most of my friends will agree with me on this. I always want to clean my house whenever someone come over. I dont know why? and it become more cronic now as even when im skyping with someone (as it felt like someone is in my house), i have the urge to clean. #cray

My classmates in MRSM PDRM will know this..haha...i used to had a HUGE crush on Alex Yoong.. i even made a private notebook dedicated only for him..The notebook was full with newspaper cut, pictures and all that jazz! i stopped this obsession completely right after he got married. I was devastated as my first love was taken away! #dramatic much?
  11. I ALWAYS, i mean ALWAYS obsess with my weight...who doesnt? haha...It not that im overweight or underweight. Its more like mental thingy..my obsession with my weight started since when i was 19 years old..but, as i said..i only obsess with my weight on the scale.but really...i didnt really do anything about it..i eat like a cow ;)

  13. I tend to say that im not a picky eater. But reality is, i'm a picky eater! i hate spicy, salty and bitter food/drink.. im not a fan of spices at all! i hate petai, curry, kurmak or whatever they called it, masak lemak cili api and all that jazz....
  14. I have a major sweet tooth problem!! I love everything with sugar in it...and thats why i love baking more than cooking.

  20. I hate horror/ thriller genre! i had to stop watching vampire diaries and pretty little liars just because i was too scared to watch them alone..ouh..i miss damon and elena! im gonna try to watch vampire diaries again this weekend!

  24. I hate programming more than anything!! I keep on bitching about programming throughout my studies...but i keep getting programming task during my thesis every freaking time(bachelor and master thesis)??  karma is a bitch!
  25. i'll be coming home in two months time!! i cant believe ill be leaving Germany for good this time!! ull be missed!!

Fitness: myfitnesspal obsession

hi loveliessss,

i know how lazy i am to write a post or even check my own blog.. i am not a commited person when it comes to blogging. But well, its my own freaking blog...i can write whenerver i want , right? err..right?

Oh well, i am now obsessing over something that some of my friends will not even surprise if i told them about it..hahah....calorie counting!!! I know..i know..its cray cray kannn... ive been a wanna be health freak since...since ...ever since i can remember..but the only problem is i love food soooo much and it hurts if i can only imagine about them and not really eating those delish fantabulos dish!!

Last January, my sister recommended  Myfitnesspal app which i obviously  as a wannabe health freak had heard and registered before and not motivated enough to continue with it. It is a free calorie counting app..as simple as it sound, we just have to record every single junks that we ate throughout the day.. The apps will automatically calculate it for you how much calorie you should take if you want to lose, maintain or even gain weight. It even count how much calorie have you burn if you workout or anything...

For me, at 171cm height and at 55 kg weight, its not about losing weight or anything, but it doesnt hurt to lose couple of kgs ;) ok..its a lie..i want to lose 2 -3 kg before my big day! 2-3 kg do not seems much to some of you..but for me, ive been the same weight since the last 10 years...so 2-3 kg is a big deal for me..just saying...

Its been a month now, and i could see the change in my choice of food. Im leaning towards more leafy green stuff as i can eat more of those but still didnt add up much to my calorie intake....

It do help sooo much if you do this thing with a few friends..so far, ive recruited my friend tikah and my abah as well..and now they are obsessing over calorie counting and working thier ass off as well...hahaha...i even built my own home gym thingy where i bought yoga matt, stability ball, dumbbell and even resistance band....semangat!!!

This apps really motivates me to make a healthy choices when it comes to food!! i dont know how long will i commit to keep on tracking my calorie intake..but i do hope it will last long enuff!!!

So...come on guys...it doesnt even cost one cent...ive been thinking to write more about healthy eating and living....we'll see about that when the time comes..hahahah
